This article describes how to grade an assignment using the new grader interface. For instructions on grading using the older interface, please see How do I grade an assignment using the legacy grading interface?

Select the Assignments tool from the Tool Menu in your site.
Click the Grade option associated with an assignment.
Note: If you did not choose a grading scale for the assignment, View Submissions will be displayed to you rather than Grade.
Tip: If you open a submission to grade and don't see the new interface, try deselecting and then reselecting Use new Grader to grade submissions.
Enter the score for the student's assignment in the Grade field. The maximum available points display to you next to the Grade field.
If you associated this assignment with a grading rubric, click the Rubric button to display the grading rubric.
To add feedback comments for the student, click Feedback Comment.
To add a file attachment as part of feedback that will be available to the student, click Add Attachments and then attach a file from your device.
Click Private Notes to include additional information about your feedback for other instructors or TAs to view, but that will not be visible to the student,
If you would like to allow the student to resubmit the assignment, check the Allow Resubmission box and specify the number of resubmissions allowed and the date until which they will be accepted.
Note: If you allowed resubmissions on the assignment when you created it, this information will be prepopulated with the default resubmission information for this assignment. Override the default resubmission settings for an individual student by changing the information in the Allow Resubmission area.
Tip: Some instructors prefer to release all of the grades and feedback at one time after they have finished entering grades for the entire class. See How do I release assignment grades? for more information about releasing all grades and feedback at one time.
Optionally, click the gear icon (Grader Settings) to customize the navigation and display settings so as speed up grading tasks.
